Excess baggage

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

Hello lovelies! It looks live I’ve got a captive audience, so hold onto your hats, there may be some turbulence!

We arrived at the Singapore Airlines check-in desk with our 53 bags (well, 9 actually) praying frantically under our breath that we wouldn’t get charged crazy amounts for excess baggage. I was trying my hardest to stay calm, but mentions of £30 per kilo and my sister peering over my shoulder (bless her) weren’t helping matters! In the end, the very nice French check-in dude turned a blind eye and pretended we only had 80kg, which really was good of him, and yet again, blessings come through! (more…)

Slings to the ready!

Well we arrived in Singapore after the very kind bloke at Heathrow let us on the flight without charging us for the extra 53million bags we had, much to our relief. The flight was grim – i couldn’t sleep a wink and the movie selection was poor! Thought i was going to spew at one point and had Chris at the ready with a puke bag, but PTL it wasnt needed afterall!
Anyway, our hotel was super plush baby, 5 star all the way and we had 2 days there enjoying the luxury. I have to say though that although Singapore was all very pleasant and a recommended convenient journey break on the way to Aus there’s not a lot to it other than shopping malls. Nightmare for most blokes, however Chris being Chris managed to find an ENTIRE mall devoted to electronic equipment and was in heaven! I couldn’t get out of there fast enough, even though we did buy me a very nice camera (now I know how you guys feel when shopping).
We had Singapore Slings in Raffles which were very tasty, but very pricy (wished I’d had more on the plane when they were free!). It was 30 degrees in Singapore all the time – lovely!
